University EA groups can be incredibly impactful, but leading one has its challenges. Organising for the first time can feel daunting, and even experienced organisers grapple with how to take their group to the next level. The Organiser Support Programme (OSP), a remote programme run by the Centre for Effective Altruism, helps student leaders launch and grow EA groups, offering you expert support to set your group up for success. Through 1-on-1 feedback and mentorship, we aim to make organising EA groups achievable, accessible, and effective.
Our programmes have supported over 300 organisers so far and we are excited to help you too!

Everyone in the programme was incredibly helpful and supportive, and we got so many resources and tips that we wouldn’t have found otherwise. [OSP] helped so much in getting our group off the ground, and we had a ton of fun doing it!” - Founder of EA Michigan 2022

📈 Multiply your impact: Organising a student or local EA group is one of the highest-leverage volunteer roles you can take on (80000 Hours, 2021). By hosting events and facilitating discussions, you introduce peers to evidence-based ways to tackle the world’s most pressing problems and channel them into high-impact careers or projects—creating a multiplier on your own lifetime impact.
🔨Build career capital: Leading a group is a valuable way to build transferable career capital. You’ll practice project management, public speaking, marketing, budgeting, and volunteer coordination—skills highly valued across fields (80000 Hours. 2021).

And they say specifically that group organisers are often a good fit for these roles.” (Jessica McCurdy, Head of Groups at CEA, 2024)
